Abstract
In this research study, the monolithic activated carbons have been prepared by NaOH activation for separation of Hydrogen/Methane gas mixture. In this study NaOH/Carbon weight ratios 0:1, 1.5:1, 2.5:1, 3.5:1 were used for preparing monolithic activated carbons for methane adsorption at 30°C. The BET analysis results showed that NaOH/Carbon ratio 3.5 is an appropriate ratio for preparation of adsorbents. Using this ratio, the active surface area can increased from 553.23m2/g in the sample without activator to 728.46 m2/g. Also, the experimental results showed that an average percent of of 66% hydrogen separation was observed. The samples were characterized by XRD, BET, SEM methods.
