Fouman Faculty of Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Tehran
The main mission of University of Tehran (UT) is to help to develop the intellectual capacity and flexibility to adopt to constant changes and the leadership potentials to make the fullest possible contribution to the development of the community for the good of its people. As a part of college of Engineering at University of Tehran, Fouman Faculty of Engineering trains experts and proficient human resources at B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels in order to meet the educational, research and industrial needs of the country, Iran and also tries to expand international collaborations with other universities around the globe.
Fouman Faculty of Engineering was established in 2009 in the Fouman City. It was endowed to the campus of Engineering of University of Tehran in 2005 by Mr. Seyed Abbas Mousavi Rahpeyma, the graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (University of Tehran, 1962).This Faculty, with more than 70,000 square meters of educational, administrative and dormitory space, admits students at B.Sc. and M.Sc. (regular and e-Learning) levels (Chemical, Industrial, Computer and Petroleum Engineering). It currently has about 450 bachelor students, 140 master students and 11 faculty members.
Mr. Seyed Abbas Mousavi-Rahpeyma
Mr. Seyed Abbas Mousavi-Rahpeyma, is an engineer, entrepreneur, industrialist and higher education philanthropist. He was born in Fouman, Guilan, on 24 July 1938, in an eminent family. He graduated from Chemical Engineering department of University of Tehran in 1962. After graduation, he founded a grease company called “Iran Grease” and he also started teaching at University of Tehran. He got married in 1970, and his wife has been his best and greatest support throughout all these years.
He expanded his work and established several companies all over the country; however, he had bigger dreams in his mind. He was thinking about connecting the university to the industry, as of international standards. So he decided to found Fouman Faculty of Engineering to both serve his hometown and also his nation. As he mentions himself, this may be his biggest achievement among all what he has done in all his life!
Whenever we speak about Stairs villages with their beautiful and attractive architecture, everyone remember the Masuleh, in middle of a paradise by the name Fouman. Fouman is a city which is the capital of Fouman County, Guilan Province, Iran. Fouman is only 21 kilometres to the west-southwest of Rasht, and 356 kilometres away from the national capital Tehran. Due to its geographical condition, the village is usually drowned in the clouds and this provides a great scene for those who have decided to take a tour to Masuleh. The presence of lakes, waterfalls and springs double the awe of this piece of land. So you would not only enjoy the eye catching architecture of the village but also the natural beauties surrounding it. In addition, this village owns some historical attractions which make it a proper choice for history lovers too such as caravanserais, castles and tombs
Rudkhan Castle, the largest brick castle in Iran, is located 20 km from the city of Fouman. According to research of archaeologists, Rudkhan Castle in Fuman dates back to the Sassanid period. It is interesting to know the originality of the name of this monument; the castle was named to the castle of Rogan due to its location along the river in the past and renamed Rudkhan Castle over time. The unique feature of Rudkhan Castle, which attracts your attention at the very first step to this castle, is the lack of influence, conquest and access by the enemy, throughout history.
Nothern Iran is home to some of the finest agricultural productions in the country. Located in a green and water-rich region, Guilan benefits from several premium agricultural products, some of which are solely grown in this region due to its wet and humid climate. Fouman cookie, which is one of the most delicious cookies in Iran, is being baked in different parts of the province of Guilan today, but its main location is Fouman that a well-known and original type baked in this area. Fouman Cookie is a Filled Cookie that composed of two layers. The inside layer is different with the outside layer and contains walnut, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, sugar and oil (oil animal-based).
