Effect of nano Silica as Nano-Inhibitor in the presence of CDEA Surfactant on the Prevention of Asphaltene Precipitation

Precipitation of asphaltene is a mechanism that makes many problems for the production and processing of oil. Also, deposition and adsorption of it on reservoir rock, change its properties like wettability and permeability. In this study, the effect of SiO2 nanoparticles on delay the onset point of asphaltene precipitation was investigated beside the CDEA surfactant. Results of onset analysis showed this SiO2 nanoparticles increase the onset point due to their high contact surface area and high dispersing properties. Also, CDEA surfactant as the dispersant, helps the SiO2 nanoparticles to increase further the onset point of the crude oil and to reduce the amount of asphaltene precipitation. The CDEA delayed onset point of oil from 9% to 13% and SiO2 nanoparticles increased this amount to 17%.
