The effect of various parameters on decolorization of Reactive Red 33 by Light Extended Clay Aggregate (LECA) in batch system

The capability of Light Expanded Clay Aggragate (LECA) as a low cost and green adsorbent for removal of Reactive Red 33 dye molecules from aqueous solution was investigated in batch system. The effect of various parameters such as pH, temperature, initial dye concentration and contact time were investigated to evaluate dye removal percentage and to find the optimum adsorption conditions. Results showed that the maximum removal percentage was 84.64 at the optimum operational conditions initial dye concentration of 20 ppm, pH of 2 and tempereture of 20°C at the contact time of 180 min as the obtained equilibrium time. For determination the structure of adsorbent, some analysez like: BET, zeta potential, XRF and FESEM were carried out. The results confirmed capability of LECA in removal of Reactive Red 33 dye.
