Prediction of natural gas hydrates dissociation enthalpies from phase equilibrium data

Since the detection and evaluation of a hydrate reservoir is directly from seismic velocities, at early stage it is vital to obtain required data for plan of production. As obtaining the enthalpy of dissociation data by direct measurements has difficulties, Jarrahian–Heidaryan equation of state (J–H-EOS) as well as Clausius–Clapeyron equation were used to estimate the enthalpies of dissociation for natural gas hydrate through equilibrium data. The results of the calculated enthalpy of dissociation for hydrate of experiments in this study and those from literature are presented and discussed. Parameters of Clausius–Clapeyron equation are generalized to natural gas specific gravity and quantity of non-hydrocarbons. Depending on the concentration of impurities in the systems, the enthalpy of dissociation of mixture is different which is discussed comprehensively.
