Investigation of Effective Parameters on the Performance of Gravity Drainage and Reimbibition Mechanisms in Fractured Reservoirs

The reimbibition phenomenon in fractured reservoirs has a great impact on the performance of gravity drainage process which is the main production mechanism in this kind of reservoirs. In this work, the effect of reimbibition phenomenon on gas oil gravity drainage investigated. Then, the effect of fracture to matrix permeability ratio and gas injection rate on the performance of gravity drainage and reimbibition phenomenon in fractured reservoirs is quantified through a simulation study. According to the results, increasing the fracture to matrix permeability ratios decreases the oil recovery by gravity drainage at lower ratios. . On the other hand, decreasing the gas injection rate improves the performance of gravity drainage in fractured reservoirs. The reimbibition mechanism also has a great positive effect on the performance of gravity drainage in fractured reservoirs.
