Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs) are promising means for re-using and reclaiming the grey water sources. The importance of this technology is highly pronounced when the water scarcity is taken into account. Commercialization of MBR technology highly depends on the correct handling of the microorganisms which are responsible for the biological treatment in the activated sludge. Therefore in this study, we report our attempts to find the shortest possible adaptation time in the initial loading phase of activated sludge in our MBR set-up. Additionally we present the results of microscopic identification of their microorganisms, and the performance test for tolerating the pH variation.
