The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) aims to restrict and ultimately eliminate the production, use, release and storage of POPs through a range of measures aimed at reducing and ultimately eliminating their releases into the environment and subsequent human exposure. Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are hazards to human health and exhibit harmful effects on the environment, owing to their typically lipophilic and bio-accumulative nature. The present article describes the recent studies on the health and environmental problems due to the pollution of POPs. Besides, the future prospective, convention and regulation and control and removal measures of POPs have also been discussed.
