Experimental Study on Hydrogen Production by Gasification of Poplar Wood Residues in Subcritical/Supercritical Water Condition

Supercritical water gasification (SCWG) is a promising technology which attracted a signification attention during several decades. In this research, hydrogen production from poplar wood via SCWG was investigated. The operational conditions are at the temperature range of 350-400 ˚C, feed concentration of 5-11wt% and the residence time domain of 20-60 min. It was obvious that temperature plays a vital role compared to the other parameters in SCWG process. As the time increased the gasification efficiency and hydrogen yield increased moderately and it was proved that the best operational condition to reach the maximum of hydrogen production was the lowest feed concentration.
