The effect of graphene oxide nanoparticle as an additive on the equilibrium curve of aqueous two-phase systems containing polyethylene glycol 6000 and sodium tartrate

Abstract
In this work, the effect of graphene oxide (GO) as an additive on the equilibrium curve of aqueous two-phase system composed of polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000) and sodium tartrate was studied. For this purpose, phase diagram of the system (PEG 6000 + sodium tartrate + H2O) was obtained by cloud point titration method. Then, the effect of adding GO nanoparticle at 5 and 10 wt.% on phase diagram was investigated. Also, experimental binodal data were successfully fitted to Merchuk equation. According to the results, adding GO at 5 wt.% increases two-phase region of the system and causes 4.59% deviation on the equilibrium curve. However, addition of 10 wt.% of GO nanoparticle makes no change on the equilibrium data.
