Extraction of Essential Oils from Trachyspermum ammi Seeds via Hydro-distillation Method

In this study, the Trachyspermun ammi (T. ammi) was evaluated for their medicinal benefits such as antioxidant, anti-asthma, anti-bloating, anti-diarrhea and treatment of abdominal tumors. Essential oils (Eos) were extracted from the seeds with using Hydro-distillation (HD) method and Clevenger apparatus. The amount of thymol present in the seeds and the influence of parameters such as particle size, thermal power and time was considered as the study targets. Gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analyses were employed for the separation and identiﬁcation of the components. Thymol, as an indicator compound, had a yield of 59.20% compared to the other components.
