In this research, The effect of feed flow rate at constant temperature and turbulency intensity at feed side stream of a membrane distillation on the system performance has been studied. In this case, a triangular patterned plate as a turbulence promoter was compared with a non-patterned one. They were tested with pure water for 3 h at 50 °C to investigate temperature polarization only as a decreasing factor of permeate flux. According to the results, when feed flow rate was 28.6 ml/s (laminar regime), the permeate flux increased by 5% for triangular pattern compared to the non-patterned plate. This result is due to a difference between generated eddies by the triangular pattern, augmentation of the turbulency and reducing the dead zones at the feed side which lead to alteration of temperature polarization.
