Modeling of methane production in an anaerobic digestion process using artificial neural network

چکیده
Anaerobic digestion is the main source for biogas production. Sometimes it is not possible to use produced biogas in combustion plants due to low methane content. The purpose of this study was to model the production of methane during the anaerobic digestion process in the Qom wastewater treatment plant (QWWTP). In this plant, the average methane production is 53%. A model was developed using artificial neural network (ANN) to predict methane content in the produced biogas. The model with the optimal configuration of 4-9-1 was obtained using Back Error Propagation Algorithm (BEP). The results of ANN models were evaluated by CI indexes. Modeling results showed the negative effect of increasing pH (CI =-8.28) and positive effect of increasing temperature (CI=+14.52) on methane production.
