Investigating the Steam Absorption by Diluted LiBr Aqueous Solution

Abstract
The operation of absorption chillers significantly depends on the performance of Lithium Bromide – Water solution in absorbing the generated steam. Hence, in the current study an experimental setup was tailored to study the dilution effect (from 53% to almost 5%) on the absorption rate. This setup mimicked the vacuum condition in the absorption chamber of the aforementioned chillers. In order to record the dynamics of the absorption, data acquisition over time was done for both temperature, pressure, and LiBr concentration. The results revealed that by diluting the LiBr to almost 5% the absorption rate can increase by 29%. Moreover the variation in the pressure and temperature could clearly reflect three stages during the experiments.
