Application of Taguchi Design to Investigate the Effective Parameters of Heavy Metals Removal from Industrial Phosphoric Acid in an Adsorption Column

In the present study, the removal of arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) from the wet process phosphoric acid by using zeolite 4A through applying the Taguchi design have been investigated. Three parameters including the concentration of initial heavy metal, pH, and the amount of adsorbent, have been studied in an adsorption column. Because of the high cost of synthetic zeolite, it is essential to employ an optimum amount of adsorbent and investigate the mentioned parameter. Furthermore, pH is a significant factor in adsorption, which has been investigated as well. The concentration of heavy metals has been measured at each step after performing the tests, and the removal percentage of it has been calculated. As and Pb have been removed by 99% applying the Taguchi predictive statistical method and considering the optimal parameters.
