Abstract
In this paper, polyaniline-zinc oxide (PANI/ZnO) nanocomposites were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The morphology, crystal structure and functional group analysis of the synthesized nanocomposites have been investigated using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), respectively. FESEM images showed that there is a uniform distribution of zinc oxide particles with a cauliflower morphology in the PANI matrix with a smooth, crusty surface. The peaks displayed in the FTIR and XRD images confirmed the existence of the PANI and ZnO functional groups and also revealed the formation of hydrogen bonds between zinc oxide and the N-H group on the surface of ZnO nanoparticles.
