The New Experimental Validation of a Rigorous Absorber and Desorber Thermodynamic Model for CO2 Capturing by Mono-Ethanol Amine (MEA)

In this study, the modified process models are proposed to enhance the performance of the CO2 capturing unit for low CO2 composition (6.7 mol.%) in different MEA concentrations and various temperatures in a dynamic lab. pilot plant. To achieve optimal design through CO2 capturing process modeling, eighty test runs are performed to calculate partial pressure and CO2 loading in dynamic pilot plant conditions. In the first model, Bishnoi approach about an inconsistency with the reference state of infinite dilution in the mixed solvent for CO2 in ASPEN PLUS is developed by MATLAB code to obtain the accurate partial pressure and CO2 loading value; and in the second model, Jostein Gabrielsen method is refined to estimate the essential of CO2 partial pressure in the MEA system.
