Conversion of rapeseed oil to aromatics over hierarchical metal modified HZSM-5 Catalysts

Abstract
The hierarchical metal modified HZSM-5 catalysts were prepared by successive desilication-impregnation methods and their application in the conversion of rapeseed oil methyl ester to aromatics was investigated. The aromatization reaction was conducted under atmospheric pressure. X-ray diffraction and N2 adsorption-desorption techniques were applied to characterize the catalysts. The influence of operating temperature and Space Velocity on the aromatics yields were studied. The reactor temperature and space velocity were adjusted at 400/450 °C and 2/4 hr-1, respectively. Alkali-treatment of the HZSM-5 catalyst sample increased the aromatization capacity of the catalyst. The maximum aromatic yield of 46.1% was obtained over PM2 catalyst.
