Synthesis of BiFeO3 nanoparticles by solution combustion route

Abstract
In the present study Bismuth ferric oxide (BiFeO3) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by solution combustion method using glycine as the fuel. Powders were prepared in three molar ratios of fuel to oxidant (F/O =0.3, 0.555, 0.8) and these three fuel ratios were compared. compared wich others. Phase identification and crystallite size of as-prepared samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction method. The band gap was calculated by 1.86 eV, indicating a good absorption of the synthesized nanopowder under the visible-light regime. The photocatalytic activity of BiFeO3 nanoparticles has been investigated by the degradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible light.
